Anna Gagat-Matuła

PhD, an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Special Needs Education of the Pedagogical University of Cracow. A statistician, clinical and personality psychologist, criminal forensic psychologist, a speech therapist, oligophrenopedagog, tyflopedagog, early school educator, a family mediator in litigations, a therapist in the scope of such concepts as: applied behaviour analysis (behavioural psychology), sensory integration, biofeedback, Hallwick, Weronika Sherborne. Author of over 40 scientific works published in ranked journals and of monographs.

Research interests:

  •  Methodology of quantitative research, statistics, psychometrics.
  • Stress, personal resources and functioning of families with children with disabilities, especially those experiencing migration.
  • Psychological, socio-economic situation and financial knowledge of families of children and adolescents with ASD, especially in the period of a pandemic.
  • Therapy, education and support of people with ASD.

Research projects currently underway:

  • International project „The Autistic School Staff Project” 3rd stage. Coordinator Dr Rebecca Wood Senior Lecturer in Special Education, University of East London. Teams: Dr Laura Crane, Associate Professor, University College London; Professor Francesca Happé CBE, FBA FMedSci, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, King’s College London Dr Damian Milton, Lecturer in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, University of Kent. I am a coordinator of research conducted in Poland. Financing: Funded by John and Lorna Wing Foundation. Implementation period: 2020-2022
  • Participation in a project financed and implemented by the Test Labs of the Educational Research Institute and the Warsaw School of Social Psychology SWPS concerning the research on the accuracy of scales of diagnostic tools for cognitive abilities of children and adolescents with severe disability and autism. Tools: ABAS-3 Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (worksheet for parents, worksheet for teachers), Cognitive Development Scale, KIRMIK Short Inventory of Speech and Communication Development, SES Child development questionnaire.
